So, you’re thinking about having sushi catered for your next event. The problem is, some of your guests are vegetarian and you don’t want them to go hungry. How can you get the food you want at your party while keeping all of your guests happy? Well, you CAN have the best of both worlds!

Though most people believe that all sushi contains raw or cooked fish, the truth is that not all sushi contains seafood or meat. In fact, the word sushi refers to the rice that is either wrapped on the outside or inside of the seaweed wrapping the actual sushi rolls.

Though raw or cooked fish are popular ingredients of sushi, there are tons of delicious vegetarian options for you to choose from. Let’s take a look at some of them:

Avocado & Cucumber Roll
The simplest of veggie sushi, mix the two veggies together or have them separate.

Vegetable Maki
You can put practically any type of veggie inside of a roll — tomato, red pepper, cucumber & lettuce. Yum!

Garden Vegetable Roll
This roll contains cucumber, mushrooms, carrots, and a gari, which is Japanese pickled ginger.
You can also try adding some other great sushi veggies like asparagus, zucchini, or sweet potato.

Sweet Potato Roll
Sweet potatoes make for delicious sushi, especially when mixed with tempura flakes, which add a crunchy texture to the mix.

Avocado Salad Roll
This roll is perfect for the vegetarian who isn’t too excited about the ideas of a seaweed wrapped roll. This particular roll pictured above is made up of cucumbers, radishes, carrots & lettuce all wrapped up in avocado!

Vegetable Tempura Roll
My personal favorite, the vegetable tempura roll, is made either with vegetables that have been deep-fried or the entire roll is deep fried itself! Goes great with spicy mayo & ginger sauce.

Avocado Nigiri
Nigiri is a type of sushi. The ingredients are basically held onto a bed of rice by seaweed. Just like any other roll, you can have whatever vegetables you’d like!
